Abstract:

Persons with ID are still excluded from many areas of our life. They are often segregated in specialised systems (education, work and living situations), which has detrimental effects for them. Inclusive programmes in post-secondary education dramatically increase access to the labour market and inclusion in all areas of life. Worldwide and especially in Europe only very few higher educational organisations grant people with ID access their educational programmes. Therefore it is very important to increase the number of high-quality inclusive higher education programmes throughout Europe.

Goals:

1)           Access of persons with ID to post-secondary education

2)           Fully inclusive programmes for persons with ID

3)           Increasing the employability of persons with ID and supporting them to achieve personal goals for their profession

4)           Support staff and peer supporters to acquire the knowledge necessary to conduct inclusive education

5)           Continuous quality improvement of inclusive programmes and scaling-up of successful approaches throughout Europe.
